The most convincing argument for a DC based architecture is the decoupling that occurs between generator and load. For utility applications, as an example, power system disturbances experienced in New York will be felt in Florida because of the meshed AC system design. DC based architectures and system layouts decouple systems so these disturbed power system areas do not impact neighboring areas.
